Christmas Controversies, Part 2
Each year at Christmas churches, movies, children’s books, cards, and nativity sets around our homes all tell the story of Jesus’ birth. Across the centuries we have introduced into the Scripture itself a remarkable number of mythological elements. Some of these are so old and so pervasive that they are unconsciously affirmed. As we examine what is actually said in the biblical narrative, and view it through the historical and cultural lens, we may find a nativity story that is even sweeter and stronger in its revelation of God's love.
